A hybrid modelling/measurement approach is presented, which covers the full "signal chain" of the bassoon sound from the quasi-stationary blowing pressure in the bassoonists mouth to the sound pressure in the ears of a listener. The sound generation process is addressed by linking a theoretical description [Hirschberg, Kergomard & Weinreich1995] with experimental data [Grothe2015a] using a numerical physical model implementation [Doc, Vergez & Missoum2014]. The result of the simulation is the pressure waveform inside the bassoon reed-mouthpiece [Grothe2015b]. The sound pressure outside of the bassoon is calculated using a measured transfer function, which describes the sound transmission from the reed into the room.
The talk will be illustrated by sound examples.
