Summary : Different numerical methods have been important in the last decades in the study and development of acoustic materials and assembled systems. The implementation of combined or hybrid numerical methods and the use of advanced numerical formulations/techniques allows to efficiently and accurately improve these acoustic systems.

In this context, we will be exploring two sets of acoustic problems where the numerical modelling, in the context of Civil Engineering applications, has played an important role in the enhancement of the acoustic properties of different acoustic systems.

First, the implementation of an efficient Boundary Element model (BEM) is discussed to numerically reproduce the acoustic behaviour of combined acoustic structures, composed by perforated resonators periodically arranged in space. It is known that the periodic arrangement of acoustic scatterers exhibits peculiar attenuation effects in ranges of forbidden frequencies and, on the other hand, the presence of perforated surfaces has been extensively studied to reduce acoustic reflections by plane surfaces.

Then, the implementation of two Finite Element models (FEM), using the fluid-equivalent theory, is analysed to describe a relatively new concept of sound absorption, denominated as Metaporous concrete, consisting of a porous concrete-based sound absorber in which different acoustic resonators are embedded.

Different numerical examples will be presented in this talk enabling the analysis of the acoustic behaviour of different arrangements and compositions of such absorbent and sound insulation structured materials.

Pendant cette période, le LMA continue sa série de séminaires en VISIO
