Multiphysics modeling

The focus here is on establishing thermodynamically consistent multiphysics models of macroscopic behavior, and on numerical implementation of such problems using original methods (IGA space-time, etc.). The challenge is to better understand and simulate complex phenomena such as thermochemical-mechanical coupling in elastomers (aging, vulcanization), or phase transformation in metals due to strong thermomechanical coupling and the accumulation of plastic deformation. Applications range from nuclear power and materials processing to transportation.
